- Our rooms for elderlies have individual beds and they effectively meet the requirements of aged individuals.
- Purified drinking water is available round-the-clock.
- Access to television, newspapers, and periodicals is also available.
- We have in-house kitchen and dining facilities, and food is served in an air-conditioned dining room.
- Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals are cooked and served separately for elderlies having separate food preferences.
- Only naturally healthy ingredients are used in the food preparation process. We never serve pre-cooked packaged items, and all the meals that we serve to the elderlies in our care are traditional foods using natural ingredients.
- To avoid a feeling of boredom and separation, elderlies, at their common discretion, can participate in common activities in the community hall.
- It is under consideration that, periodically, visits to temples and churches can be arranged for elderlies in the case of those interested in attending devotional services on special days.
- A fitness instructor in the premises teaches exercises to the elderlies, to ensure that they are in a good physical and mental condition, and in the future yoga and breathing techniques can also be added.
- We attempt to impart basic literacy to illiterate inmates.
- A dedicated 24-hr ambulance is available for transporting the elderlies to a hospital in case of medical emergencies.
- Near the bed of each person, a dedicated panic button is present, which can be pressed in case of any sudden medical complication, such as breathing difficulty, severe pain, etc.
- A dedicated team of paramedical staff is always available in the campus to take care of the elderlies; they help by taking the infirm elderlies for walks within the premises, administering medicines, and co-ordinating check-ups and periodic visits to the hospital by keeping track of their medical requirements, etc.
- A doctor remains within the campus 24 × 7 to provide outpatient services.
- We also provide wheel-chairs and ventilator beds to patients facing the need for the same.
- In particular, elderlies having medical conditions that require frequent medical attention, such as diabetes, arthritis, skin problems, etc. are taken for hospital medical check-ups every month, or sooner if the condition of the patient necessitates it.
- Screening for sugar and BP levels is conducted every week, and if there are any abnormalities, the same is immediately attended to by the in-house doctor.
- In the light of increasing crimes against elderlies in recent times, we have made the safety and security of the elderlies in our care a top priority.
- We have 24 × 7 CCTV monitoring both inside and around the perimeter of the premises. For elderlies possessing valuables, they are given individual safety lockers where they can store jewellery items, bank passbooks, silk sarees, etc.
- Our security personnel are recruited from a reliable security agency, and all of them are reportedly former military staff. (We have received information that the credentials of the security staff who are appointed to patrol the premises are thoroughly verified by the agency before the concerned person is assigned duty, and that one copy of the credentials, with a minimum of Aadhaar card photocopy and recent photograph, are always digitally stored on the agency’s server for every person who is appointed for security duty.)
- We have a dedicated team of housekeepers and sanitary staff who maintain the whole environment in a neat and tidy manner.
- Cleaning is carried out daily, and even when the inmates are currently not living in the premises (out-of-station).
- Food utensils that are used to prepare and serve food to the elderlies are thoroughly cleaned between successive uses to ensure optimal hygiene.
Nesam Old Age Home is an old age home for senior citizens who need support owing to an absence of a dedicated caring mechanism at home, or for taking care of the parents of those who have settled abroad.
